The Self-Injury Awareness Month is an ideal time to learn more about a serious issue that affects many people along with their loved ones across America. An addictive behavior, self-injury (also referred to as self-harm) can be defined as the act of harming the surface of one’s body as a way to cope with frustration, anger or emotional pain. It is commonly exhibited through cutting or scratching oneself or other behaviors designed to cause self-injury and pain.
