National Human Trafficking Awareness Day

Observed every year on Jan. 11, the National Human Trafficking Awareness Day (NHTAD) was started in 2011 by the then U.S. President Barack Obama. The day sees mass campaigns throughout the nation to help raise awareness about modern-day slavery, such as sexual slavery and human trafficking, worldwide. The day was created to end these slaveries and to ensure that every individual has the right to live with respect.
