National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Proclaimed by then President Ronald Reagan, March has been observed as the National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month since 1987. It gives an opportunity to promote respect for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and to educate others on the spectrum about the abilities that such individuals possess. While some disabilities are visible, some cognitive impairments may not be easily recognized or seen by the eye. The theme for 2018 is “Together We Have No Limits.”
